Introducing Winterglow - a collaborative Ruby Star Society collection!
I love looking through these collaborative collections and trying to figure out which designers had a hand in which prints. Strange how my life has come to this point where distinguishing Rashida Coleman Hale from Alexia Marcelle Abegg is something I can even conceive of, where 3 years ago someone asked who my favorite fabric designer was and I think I responded "uh... idk... Moda?"
But I digress. Wintery fabrics! Gotta love planning a good cuddly fireplace quilt in *checks notes* July. But we gotta have time to sew so we can actually get to snuggling when the cold weather sets in!
I kind of had three different theme ideas when putting these mockups together - Low Volume/Ice Princess, Warm Cozy Fireplace, and Scrappy Cabiny Hodgepodge. (Cabiny is a totally real adjective okay! Language, like time and reality, is merely a construct.) At first I thought I would fall into a "Christmasy Quilt" extravaganza but as I played with the colors I realized they really are just wintery without being Christmasy so way to go RSS!
I don't usually use much of the white-on-white prints in a Ruby Star Collection, but I discovered something really cool about them a few weeks ago: that you can over-dye them and the white print stands out! We did some ice-dying with Curio's Flicker in Natural recently and it turned out INCREDIBLY. So I tried taking this collections white-on-white Snowflakes print and photoshopping (or whatever you call it when you're using a random free drawing application) some ice-dyed colors into it: (P.S. this is a good moment to plug our Ice Dying Class):

I am now thinking of these white-on-white prints in a whole new light!
Okay, okay - on to the quilts:
I couldn't resist doing Taralee Quiltery's Cosmic Feathers in this collection - It looks like a big snowflake! This quilt finishes at 64" x 64" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
I've got two versions of Miss Make's Looper in Winterglow for you. This first one is more of a low volume/ice theme. This quilt finishes at 60" x 60" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
Here's the second Looper. I can just see this quilt folded over a wing-backed chair in front of a roaring fire in a cabin snow gently falling in the forest outside the window. (*comes back to reality and looks out window* oh yah, still July) This quilt finishes at 60" x 60" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
Loving Toad and Sew's Garden Glow Quilt in Winterglow. Is it gardeny? Is it wintery? Yes and yes! This quilt finishes at 64" x 64" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
Here's Miss Make's Clava Baby Quilt in blue Winterglows. I had to find a good way to show off this large chicken print, and I'm loving it in the big moon here, and the Star print as the background. This quilt finishes at 39" x 48" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
Here's Miss Make's Clava Throw in the most Christmasy of all my Winterglow mockups here. I'm digging it. This quilt finishes at 57" x 57" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
Look at these adoreable birds! This Pen + Paper Pattern's Sparrows Quilt looks like little birds looking for red holly berries in the snow. This quilt finishes at 57" x 57" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
I love this scrappy Ruby Star Society Picnic Quilt in Winterglow. This quilt finishes at 67.5" x 67.5" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
I was trying to see if I could make these flowers in Pen + Paper Pattern's Fresh as a Daisy Quilt look like snowflakes. Not sure if they really do, but I unexpectedly fell in love with this low-volume layout. This quilt finishes at 59.5" x 63.5" and takes the following fabrics to recreate:
Last but not least we have the Wyld Whirl Quilt! This one has all the Winterglow prints we carry at the shop, in addition to the coordinating Speckleds. A link to a digital copy of this pattern is included with all of our Fat-Quarter bundles. This is a great first quilt and a fun make!
I'm sharing a few colorways of this pattern.
This mock-up finishes at 42" x 56", but with this many Fat Quarters you could make it bigger. To recreate it you'll need 1 Fat Quarter of:
