Ruby Star Society did not share any specifics of how they're addressing environmental sustainability and racial and social equity with us, but they did share this values statement:
"Ruby Star Society, in collaboration with Moda Fabrics, is a group of five designers who have been working together for nearly a decade. We are motivated by a desire to help people - primarily women - be the best version of themselves. We have learned some powerful lessons together, and our values dictate that we inspire, empower, and encourage each other. We fell in love with something called “Shine Theory”: the simple premise that "I don't shine if you don't shine." It's a term coined to describe a commitment to collaborating with rather than competing against other people — especially other women.
We believe that we have a responsibility to be a part of the change that we would like to see in our industry. Our goal is to make continuous incremental efforts toward diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability that will ripple outward through the quilting industry. In our RSS Projects with Purpose series, we donate profits from our special edition panels to charitable groups fighting to make the world a better place."
