Virtual Quilting Mini Series #5 Machine and Hand Quilting

Welcome to our Quilting Mini Series! Perfect if you want to learn how to quilt for the first time or if you want to brush up your skills in a specific area.

This is part 5 of our 6 part series. You can purchase all 6 classes as a bundle here.

In this 1 hour workshop we'll go over machine quilting your quilt on a standard domestic machine. We'll go over options for marking your quilt, helping the bulk through the machine, and how to choose a design that compliments your quilt. We'll also cover our method for hand quilting.

The instructor will spend the first 30-45 min of class demonstrating and the last 15-20 will be for questions. You can watch and take notes or quilt along with us. If you'll be quilting with us you will need:

Machine Quilting

Quilt that is basted and ready for quilting
Sewing machine loaded with coordinating thread.
Walking foot or even feed foot *optional but really helps
Quilting gloves *Optional but can make things a little easier to grip
Marking tool - We like hera markers

Hand Quilting

Quilt that is basted and ready for quilting
Thread - You'll want something a little heavier like a 12 wt. We like this sashiko thread
Needles - It's good to have a variety to see what you like. We use these.
Thread Gloss *Optional but really helps
Thimble(s) - Everyone likes something different. We like a palm thimble and these rubber needle pullers
Small scissors
Needle Threader
