Virtual Quilting Mini Series 6 week Bundle



Welcome to our Quilting Mini Series! Perfect if you want to learn how to quilt for the first time or if you want to brush up your skills in a specific area. 

This is for all 6 weeks of our series. You save $40 by signing up for all 6 weeks. Here is a breakdown of each week

Week 1 Feb 18th: In this 1 hour workshop we'll go over best practices for selecting fabric for your next quilting project. We'll touch on color theory, go over value, scale, contrast, etc.

You don't need any materials for this class but we recommend having something to take notes with. We'll spend 30-45 min on instruction and spend the last 15-30 min going over questions.

Week 2 Feb 25th: In this 1 hour workshop we'll cover all things prepping and cutting. Pre wash VS not pre wash, Pressing, How to bulk process to speed things up, how to stay organized, and how to make more precise cuts.

The instructor will spend the first 30-45 min of class demonstrating and the last 15-20 will be for questions. You can watch and take notes or cut along with us. If you would like to cut with us you will need:

Rotary Cutter 
Cutting Mat
Acrylic Ruler
Fabric that is pressed and ready for cutting

Week 3 Mar 3rd: In this 1 hour workshop we'll go over piecing you cut fabric. We'll talk about how to get a perfect 1/4" seam, a scant 1/4" seam and pressing tricks for reducing bulk. We'll also cover chain piecing and web piecing to speed up the process

The instructor will spend the first 30-45 min of class demonstrating and the last 15-20 will be for questions. You can watch and take notes or piece along with us. If you would like to sew with us you will need:

Sewing Machine loaded with thread, we like 40wt for piecing
Acrylic Ruler with clear 1/4" mark
Washi tape or painter's tape
Pins
Iron + Ironing Board
Fabric that is cut and ready for piecing

Week 4 Mar 10th: In this 1 hour workshop we'll go over basting your quilt using a home made basting spray. We'll also cover how to pattern match your backing fabric.

The instructor will spend the first 30-45 min of class demonstrating and the last 15-20 will be for questions. You can watch and take notes or baste your quilt along with us. If you'll be following along you will need the following:

Pressed quilt top
Pressed backing fabric
Batting
Painter's tape
Homemade Basting Spray (recipe will be emailed once you register for the class)
Iron
Large area for basting, hardwoods or laminate, carpet doesn't really work.

Week 5 Mar 17th The instructor will spend the first 30-45 min of class demonstrating and the last 15-20 will be for questions. You can watch and take notes or quilt along with us. If you'll be quilting with us you will need:

Machine Quilting

Quilt that is basted and ready for quilting
Sewing machine loaded with coordinating thread. 
Walking foot or even feed foot *optional but really helps
Quilting gloves *Optional but can make things a little easier to grip
Marking tool - We like hera markers

Hand Quilting

Quilt that is basted and ready for quilting
Thread - You'll want something a little heavier like a 12 wt. We like this sashiko thread 
Needles - It's good to have a variety to see what you like. We use these.
Thread Gloss *Optional but really helps 
Thimble(s) - Everyone likes something different. We like a palm thimble and these rubber needle pullers
Small scissors
Needle Threader

Week 6 Mar 24th: In this 1 hour workshop we'll go over binding your quilt. We'll cover options for machine stitching it down or hand stitching, we'll show you how to get a perfect mitered corner, and ideas for labeling your quilts.

The instructor will spend the first 30-45 min of class demonstrating and the last 15-20 will be for questions. You can watch and take notes or quilt along with us. If you'll be quilting with us you will need:

Quilted Quilt ready for binding
Fabric for your binding
Iron and Ironing Board
Sewing machine + basic notions
Hand sewing needle

Classes will be recorded and sent out at the end of every week in case you miss them.
