Stretch Your Skills Workshop

Class Duration: 2.5 hours. 30-40 minutes of lecture about working with stretch and 2 hrs of independent work time with instructor guidance

Students Bring: A stretch project! You can bring pieces cut out ready to sew, fabric ready to be cut, or a work in progress that you need a little help getting through that tricky bit. Each student will bring a stretch project of their choosing along with any pattern pieces and necessary notions.

Suggested Fabric: Any knit or stretch fabric is welcome for this class! If you are unsure or have questions please email us @ hello@wyldwoodcreative.com

Materials Included with registration: You supply the project and materials, we'll supply the sewing machines and use of all needed tools i.e. scissors, pins, irons, etc. We use Bernette B37 sewing machines. If you would prefer to bring your own machine that is okay, just let us know before class.

You will leave with: The knowledge and confidence to work with stretch fabrics!

Skill Level: Confident Beginner or above

Skill Details:

• Confident Beginner: Students should have a moderate amount of sewing experience. Students should have made 5+ sewing projects of any type on their own. They are very comfortable operating and troubleshooting a sewing machine, they know how to wind a bobbin and thread a machine. They are comfortable using a rotary cutter, and are familiar with sewing terminology like RST, WST, backstitch, etc.
• *This is not a class for folks brand new to sewing. If you've never sewn before or if it's been awhile we recommend starting with our Sewing 101 course.

Age Range: Adults and Teens 16+

Description: 

The stretch your skills class is the perfect place to overcome any fears or hesitations you have around working with stretchy fabrics. We cover things like finding the direction of greatest stretch, determining stretch percentage, which needles to use when, which stitches to use when, and general best practices for working with stretch fabrics. 

Our instructor Jaynie will spend the first 30-40 minutes discussing all things stretch. We'll then break out and each student will work independently on the project they brought. Jaynie will be available for guidance and to answer questions as they come up. 

At the end of class you'll leave with some progress made on your project and the knowledge and confidence to continue working with stretch fabrics.
