Darning is a simple and essential mending technique that everyone would do well to have in their skill set. Thanks to fast fashion, it is a bit of a lost art, but those who practice it love it because it:
- extends the life of your belongings
- requires no special tools
- is a miniature and mobile fiber art (great for multitasking)
- is a versatile technique with lots of room for creative experimentation
- feels like a real life super power!
This 90 minute lesson will cover:
Darning tools and materials
Mending rules of thumb
Step by step demonstration and discussion of the three main darning styles:
English
Scotch
Swiss
