In this 2.5 hour workshop you'll learn how to sew a professional looking lined zipper pouch.
We'll go over techniques to ensure a high quality finished product. We'll cover how to get nice neat corners that aren't pinched, beautiful top stitching to give your project a professional look, and how to make the best use of your zipper foot.
Students will choose from our selection of fat quarters for their project. We'll use 9" molded zippers for a more modern look.
At the end of class you'll take home a completed zipper pouch and a handout with detailed photos and instructions so that you can continue making zip pouches at home!
This is a intermediate sewing class. Students should have completed at least 5 sewing projects on their own before taking this class.
Students should be comfortable with the following:
Threading the machine and winding the bobbin
Maintaining a consistent seam allowance
Right Side and Wrong Side of fabric
Pressing with an iron and applying interfacing
Changing out feet on the sewing machine
Using a rotary cutter and ruler
Overall be familiar with and comfortable operating a sewing machine
All of the needed supplies and materials are included in the class fee. Students will select fabrics from our Fat Quarters We will use our classroom machines and the included zipper foot. We'll go over how this might look different on your home machine and how to adjust.
